7/12/14 Grand Christmas Draw - Prizewinners
6/11/14 At the Lincolnshire Sports Annual Awards ceremony today Lizzy Gray was voted Young Sportswoman of the Year. (Photo) Congratulations to Lizzy and to Peter Quittenton who was runner-up in the Young Sportsman of the Year category.
4/10/14 Congratulations to two Lincoln crews who have just completed the Liffey Descent in Ireland. Archie Miles and John Rennocks were 2nd in the Veteran class, only 2 minutes behind the winners, with Gary Carter and Steve Gardner in 4th.
26/09/14 Thanks to Graham Smith we now have a storage container behind the HQ. When fitted out this should provide room for all the general purpose boats, leaving room in the boat shed for more racing boats.
14/09/14 It was a good start to the 2015 Hasler race season, with 21 divisional paddlers and 5 Lightnings racing for Lincoln at the Soar Valley event. The prizegiving was very busy with Lincoln paddlers collecting 8 gold, 8 silver and a bronze medal. With results like these it came as no surprise to find that we were the top placed club, with 232 points from a possible maximum of 240, 36 points clear of Nottingham.
31/08/14 At today's final handicapped marathon of the summer both David Oliver and Jacob Harley-Beckett beat the course record for the Fossedyke 6 mile course. David just had the lead on the finish line, so the honours go to him with a time of 43 mins 49 secs. The previous record was 43m 53s, set by Oliver Wickam in 2001.
24/08/14 23 Lincoln paddlers took part in the Marathon National Championships at Worcester over the bank holiday weekend, cheered on by a host of Lincoln supporters. Lizzy Gray is our only Marathon National Champion this year, with a gold medal in the U16 ladies K1 event. Other medalists were Mandy Mylett with silver and Richard Oliver and Debbie Quittenton taking bronze. We only had 3 juniors in the Lightning classes, but Lucy Guest and Lewis Smith won bronze medals in the U12s with Richard Mongan narrowly missing out with 4th place in the U10 race. Robyn Smith and Kev Lack paddled very well together and led from start to finish to become Div 8 K2 Class Champions.
Lincoln was the 14th placed club from the 48 British clubs represented.
17/08/14 Having set a new ladies course record over 6 miles on the Fosse Dyke last month, Lizzy Gray has just done the same with the 500m course. She recorded a time of 2mins 7.5secs to take 2 seconds off Emma Tonner's best time, set in 2009. Also going well were Chris Gray, going under 2 minutes for the first time, and Will Doughty, who equalled Peter Quittenton's fastest time of 2014 with 1m 53s.
20/07/14 The Lincoln veteran marathon paddlers had a good day on the River Severn at Ironbridge, with seven of the nine picking up mugs at the prizegiving. Even Gary and Steve, who swam at Jackfield rapids, pulled back to finish in fourth place. Richard and Mandy avoided the mayhem when 3 boats capsized in front of them and went on to win division 6 K2. Nigel Stevenson (with ex-RAF paddler Mike Carter) had a close race with John Rennocks and Archie Miles, finishing only 8 seconds ahead to win Division 5. On the bottom course at Bridgnorth, Mike and Lynette took third place in Division 7. Despite not having a full scoring team, we still managed 5th place in the Club competition.
17/07/14 Final results for the MacGregor Paddle Competition at the Inter-Club Regatta show Lincoln in 8th place from the 46 Clubs represented, one higher than shown in the provisional results. Click here for full details.
13/07/14 congratulations to Lizzy Gray who set the fastest recorded time by a lady on the Fossedyke 6 mile course at today's Summer Marathon. Having reduced the fastest time by a club member to below the 50 minute barrier for the first time last year, she completed the course today in 47 minutes 35 seconds. This beats Sandra Troop's time of 48m 46s, set in 1991 after she had moved to Nottingham Kayak Club. Also going well was Peter Quittenton, who equalled Jacob Harley-Beckett's fastest time for this year with 44m 57s. Full results are on the Competitions page.
05-06/07/14 Well done to the 24 club members who raced at the Inter-Club Regatta, some of whom raced in 7 different events. Provisionally, Lincoln was the 9th placed Club, 3 higher than last year, but still down on 2012's 6th place.
Nicole was the top scorer in the Ron Emes Blade Competition, with Rob G in second place, but Peter Q's third place was enough to move him into top place overall, 1 point ahead of Ted.
There were also 8 Junior members racing in the Mini Sprint events, but these did not count in the MacGregor Paddle Competition. Following the promotion of most of the Lightning paddlers last month, scoring was somewhat reduced, but Lucy increased her lead over Lewis in the Flavell Trophy Competition by a single point.
08/06/14 Burton marathon and another great performance by the Lincoln Team. Pity the results took so long to come out and the the Lightning prizegiving was messed up. All 4 Lightning races were won by Lincoln paddlers but not everyone got the medal they were expecting, or even a medal at all. There were also wins for Robert Guest, who was promoted from Div 6 to Div 4, and Josh Smith, who was promoted from Div 7 to Div 6. Lincoln was the third placed Club and we move back into 3rd place overall in the Midlands Region.
01/06/14 It was another good day's marathon racing on a sunny day at Nottingham. In the U12 Lightning classes there were wins again for Lewis S. and Lucy, with Richard M. taking 2nd place in U10 boys. Caitlin and Leanne won Div 8 K2, Ben was 2nd in Div 6 and was promoted to Div 5 and Dave B. also took 2nd in Div 7. Lincoln was the 2nd placed Club from the 14 Midlands Clubs at the event, but remain in 5th overall.
31/05/14 Very well done to Peter Quittenton who was on the Podium twice at the Juniors and U23 Development International Regatta in Piestany, Slovakia. Paddling with Nathan Low in the 200m and 500m K2 events they won silver medals in both.
18/05/14 There was a fantastic turnout for the Feathered Blade mini-regatta today with 33 paddlers in 30 boats. The biggest improvement came from Patrick Mongan, who was 16 seconds faster than last month, but there were 8 others who improved by over 10 seconds.
The fastest paddler of the day was Peter Quittenton with 1m 54½s, which is the fastest time on the Fossedyke course since 2003. Only 5 paddlers have recorded times faster than Peter's, including his dad who holds the course record of 1-48, set in 1991. See the Competitions page for full results and the overall points table.
27/04/14 There were excellent results at the Anker Valley marathon with all the lightnings getting top 3 places, including wins for Lucy, Lewis S and Abbie.
Despite having 7 boats taking top 3 positions in the divisional races we missed out on being top club by a single point. There were wins for Ella and Caitlin in Div 8 K2, and Josh S in Div 7 K1, while Ben and Ted took second place in Div 5 K2 as did Nicole in Div 8 K1. There were promotions for Nicole, Patrick and Caitlin, so well done to them. It was a good day's racing apart from Jacob being hit on the head with a paddle during the portage and needing 4 stitches.
See all the results here.
19/04/14 Well done to Andy Tyerman and Kyle Campbell, who completed the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster race in 23 hours 12 minutes and 52 seconds. They finished 39th out of 137 finishers from 190 starters in the senior doubles class.
Report by Kyle Campbell.
13/04/14 Congratulations to David Oliver, Ted Borchardt and Chris Gray who were all promoted at the first Regatta of 2014.
30/03/14 The first Hasler Marathon race of 2014 took place today at Royal Leamington Spa. Lincoln were well represented by a team of 15 paddlers, 3 racing for the first time. The Smith brothers both won their races and Josh (see March Picture of the Month) was promoted 2 divisions. Ted Borchardt also got a double promotion up to Div 4 after narrowly missing 2nd place in an exciting sprint finish. Lewis Andrews had to borrow a boat for the Under 10 lightning race after the race was, unknown to us, rescheduled for 9.30am instead of 1.30pm. Despite the rush he paddled well to take 3rd place. Lincoln was the 5th placed club from the 13 Midlands clubs represented and now lies in 3rd place in the Regional League.

01/03/14 As well as the Google Calendar showing National Sprint and Marathon events, a new calendar for all the Club sessions has been set up. Click on 'Calendars' at left to view both of these calendars.
20/01/14 It was announced today that, in addition to our ClubMark and Top Club Gold awards, we have received Paddle-Ability Top Club accreditation. Lincoln is the first club in the Region and only the second canoe club in the country to receive this award. Congratulations to all involved in this great achievement.
